High-traffic e-commerce
Surviving the drop
Kept influencer merch drops standing through sudden, massive traffic spikes.
The problem
Influencer merch launches send huge, near-instant traffic to a store with limited stock. Two failure modes: the site falls over, or it sells stock it doesn't have.
What I did
- Cloud-native infrastructure on GCP, with AWS and Fly.io where they fit.
- Transactional stock reservation in PostgreSQL, with PgBouncer for connection pooling and Redis in front.
- Custom storefronts integrating REST and SOAP services for checkout and global shipping.
What changed
- Handled spikes of tens of thousands of requests per second during major releases.
- No overselling during limited-stock drops.
